Welcome to SCSIbro — a place where I share my passion for technology, networking, hardware, servers, retro gaming and the projects I get stuck into along the way.

I am an Infrastructure Engineering Manager working for a large organisation, where I lead an engineering team with engineers based across multiple countries. My professional background is focused on IT infrastructure, including networking, cloud, servers, security and the technologies that keep modern IT environments running.

SCSIbro was created as a way of documenting my personal projects, experiments and the things I’m building, testing, upgrading and learning about. I also wanted to share my experiences with other IT professionals, technology enthusiasts, homelab builders, gamers and anyone else who enjoys getting hands-on with technology.

Over time, the site has grown into a collection of real-world projects, technical guides, hardware experiences and the occasional rabbit hole that starts with “I wonder if I can make this work…”

Nothing is really off-topic when it comes to IT.

SCSIbro covers a wide range of technology topics, including:

The focus isn’t on simply listing specifications or repeating information that can already be found elsewhere.

Instead, I try to share what actually happened when I put something to the test — what worked, what didn’t, what I’d do differently and whether I think something was worth the time and money.

Why SCSIbro?

Technology is constantly changing, but that doesn’t mean everything needs to be replaced the moment something new comes along.

Some of my favourite projects involve taking existing hardware and finding ways to improve it, repurpose it or get more life out of it.

Other projects are simply about curiosity.

Sometimes that means replacing an old piece of networking equipment with something newer. Sometimes it means building a retro gaming machine from hardware that would otherwise be sitting unused. And sometimes it means spending far too long trying to solve a problem that should have been much simpler.

That’s part of the fun.

I created SCSIbro to document these experiences and share them with others who might be working on similar projects, researching their next purchase or simply curious about what can be achieved with technology.

Real Projects. Real Experiences.

I don’t want SCSIbro to be another website filled with generic technology content.

Where possible, the projects and hardware you see here are things I’ve actually used, built, tested or experimented with. My aim is to share genuine experiences rather than make everything sound perfect.

I’ll share the successes, but I’ll also share the failures, limitations and things I would change.

Technology doesn’t always work the way you expect it to, and sometimes the most useful lessons come from the things that go wrong.

Hopefully, that makes the information useful whether you’re looking for a solution to a particular problem, researching your next purchase or simply interested in seeing what someone else has built.
